Wellington’s boring elections

8 September, 2007 · 4 Comments

The Wellington local elections are shaping up to be a real bore. We’ve a contest that rates as one of the most sleep inducing of all time.

The incumbent is only interesting for the perceived conflict of interest of having a prolific property developer as her husband.  Other candidates are mainly current councilors, none that interesting.

Auckland and Manukau are much luckier. Talk-back hosts, people who’ve done interesting(ish) things and some genuine fruitcakes. I’m jealous.

The Media Blackout on Council Candidates just flickered into light!
Callum Strong is hoping to become Wellington’s Creative Councillor.
He has innovative ideas for shaping Wellington’s future, and one of the few candidates out there who is actually saying how!

    I’m hugely conflicted.

Has Callum lost my vote by spamming me or won my vote by being my first commentor that I don’t know?

Apologies for the spam – 100word link added to lightbox. Hope this tips the conflictual balance back. Appreciate that you are actually using democracy to inform and allow people to have a say!

    No worries:-)

In the end getting my first ’stranger’ comment won the day. As soon as I get my blogroll working properly I’ll add Lightbox to it.
