With the BNZ reportedly saying the housing market is diving their August prediction of a 5% rise in house prices is worth reviewing (pp. 7-8 ). While duff predictions aren’t notable, as they said picking the end of a boom is a mug’s game, what’s interesting is the bare mention of the then emerging credit crunch.
What’s today’s financial story of the decade was little more than a footnote only six months ago, that says a lot about forecasting.
One prediction I would make is don’t buy property ‘no money down‘ anytime soon, you might end up like these guys.

While I’m not hurrying to get a Freeview decoder I think I’ll be making good use of the TVNZ 7 website.
Two of my favorite shows were Russell Brown’s Hard News on bFM and TV3’s The Ralston Group. Media7 and Back Benches should fill a longstanding infotainment gap for me, though Russell could relax a little I think. If the Kingmaker Debate is a standard fare rather than a treat TVNZ’s election coverage should be much better than 2005.
Best of all, TVNZ ondemand means not having to hang around your television at prime time to see it all!
