in canterbury to many taxi companies but by far the best we have had is bluestar taxis on time when ordered great service and communciation, cars are clean and tidy drivers immculate. great falcons and holdens make the differnce in a ride out of town bets the small pyrias anytime. give them a try

Worst grizzling I’ve had in a cab was the driver going on about how it was better in the good old days before taxi deregulation – when taxis cost more and you could never get one. He really had my sympathy.

all cab companies should issue a directive to the drivers: stop grizzling about every damn thing to your passengers! i can’t stand it when cabbies constantly chatter inanely either. whenever they ask me about my job i have learned to always lie. otherwise they will spend the trip grizzling about their computer.

Perhaps a bit harsh Steve. I think the difference between using a Prius and a Falcon are marginal compared to not taking a taxi ride at all. I generally only take taxis when walking isn’t practical.

i think he ran out of words. it’s not bout comfort so much as being able to work.

More comfort really, but it is easier to read in comfort. Most trips I take are usually to the airport (a long ride in AKL) and I was put off the back seats of Priuses (Priui sp?) on a trip all the way out to Lower Hutt from the Wellington CBD.

Then again I could just sit in the front.

Not interested in green anything, however i will travel with any cab company that has professionally trained drivers good brand etc. I would change companies only if other company had same trained drivers etc AND WAIT FOR IT- the fares refelected in FULL the cost differential of running hybrid to petrol cars. green cabs should be much much cheaper.

I’ve been in the back of a Green Cab without feeling a lack of leg room, and while I’m not in Che’s stratospheric league, I’m not short either. I could understand the trouble with getting four people in, though, but with 1-3 people there shouldn’t be an issue.

in 100’s line you frequently need to read reports and the like as you travel from a-b. if you have four adults all trying to get their briefcases, pdas and the like out in a prius then you’re defeating the purpose.

these types will probably end up having to take *two* prius to where they’re going. so… in a weird way the falcon is more fuel efficient.
